Elizabeth St John will be on our runway! She, who has dressed many celebrities for their own big day, will be showcasing her original bridal collection on our stage!

Elizabeth St John

Growing up as the only daughter of a master tailor, Elizabeth found herself designing and sewing at a very early age. Her mother found out very quickly the she had a curious little designer at her side so she would give her remnants and cuttings for her to use in designing little garments for her growing doll collection. The stage had been set and Elizabeth was unknowingly on her way towards an eco-focused lifestyle with deep appreciation for finely tailored and elegant designs.

In February 2010, after designing special occasion children’s wear for almost a decade, Elizabeth launched the Elizabeth St John label with her first bridal collection at the French Embassy Couture show for DC Fashion week.  Designed with a “clean” aesthetic, her gowns allow each bride to customize their gown of choice with various style options as well as the ability to showcase their personal style with accessories or variations in look.  This allows each bride to showcase their own personal style.   She has subsequently added destination bridal and social collections as well.

Having graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies (climatology/coastal geomorphology and cultural anthropology) Elizabeth focused her work on human interactions with the environment and she spent years working on environmental projects that concentrated on Tropical Rainforest Conservation, particularly in the Amazon River Basin.  Many of her collections are inspired by her passion for environment and her love of nature.

From concept to runway, minimizing environmental impact is a paramount consideration for all aspects of her company as is maintaining her fashion forward and feminine design aesthetic.   Her operations became 100% wind powered in February 2012 (8 months ahead of schedule),  and all her fabrics are either 100% natural fibers, fully sustainable fibers or 100% recycled, such as the PET satin linings that are made completely from recycled plastic bottles and line all of her wedding gowns.  Finally, and most importantly, all of her collections are produced locally and for each specific client (there is no inventory) and are hand finished, which is not only environmentally friendly, but also provides for exquisite fit and tailoring.

Elizabeth is also very active with social and conservation charities and serves on the board of several non-profits, both local and international, and is the co-founder of the Universal Strategic Services Foundation.   Her newest collection of designer bags, ElementBags.com, is a social enterprise geared towards providing direct funding to select charities with proceeds from the sales of every piece in the collection.

Currently, in addition to her Silver Spring, MD Studio, her collections are available for purchase through authorized boutiques throughout the United States and overseas.

Brimble & Clark

Sim Khan is D.C.-based 30 year old lawyer-turned-custom-clothier whose designs recently earned him a place in the final round of casting for NBC’s Fashion Star, Season 2 (hosted by Elle Macpherson, Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie & John Varvatos). He has also been recognized as a talented emerging designer by Rachel Bilson (FOX’s “the O.C.”/ The CW’s “Hart of Dixie” pictured above).

Sim has dressed “Twilight Saga” stars Booboo Stewart (pictured above), Kiowa Gordon (pictured below) and Bronson Pelletier (pictured further below) as well as Daniel Cosgrove (star of CBS’s“Dirty Sexy Money,” and CBS’s “90210”) and is in the process of dressing Tyler Posey (MTV’s “Teen Wolf”), Colton Haynes (the CW’s “Arrow”) and Harry Shum Jr. (FOX’s “Glee”).

Sim’s brand “B&C” is more than just a name, it’s the company motto: “Life is short, BE and SEE all that you can while you are here & help someone else do the same.”
